Mimik interessiert ihn, Make-up nicht

Für das französische ‘Fashion Magazine‘ hat Alec Soth seine ungewöhnliche Serie Paris/Minnesota fotografiert. Der Auftrag lautete, Modenschauen in Paris aufzunehmen. Heimgekehrt in Minnesota ist Soth das Material zu flach und es entstehen neue Bilder: Chanel und Prada auf öden amerikanischen Parkplätzen. Armani in karger amerikanischer Landschaft. Dior in wilder amerikanischer Natur. Models mit unreiner Haut, Zahnspangen und Segelohren und Jedermann-Gesichtern. Sprechende Bilder! Soth’s Erfolg.

Jetzt sind die Fotografien aus dieser Serie in Berlin zu sehen und pünktlich zum Start der Ausstellung hat Karin Schulze auf SPIEGEL ONLINE den Ausnahmefotografen und seine Reihe in einem kurzen Portrait vorgestellt.
